Newcastle Restaurant Week: Where To Go

I love going out to eat. Probably too much. And since this Monday signals the start of Newcastle’s Restaurant Week it’s a brilliant excuse to go and enjoy some of the amazing restaurants Newcastle has to offer. If you haven’t heard of it, Restaurant Week is where restaurants all over the city give people the chance to try their restaurants at a lower price. Each restaurant sets a menu for either £10 or £15 and its a great way to go and try some new places. I thought I would let you know a few of my favourite restaurants that are participating, and a few that I’d really like to try.

21

First up, 21 is one of the best restaurants for fine dining in Newcastle. I visited for my birthday last year, I wrote all about that here, and really enjoyed it. They’re offering two courses for £15, which is definitely a steal as they’re usually quite pricey and somewhere I’d normally only go for a very special occasion.

Babucho

I’ve visited Babucho for a meal with the girls and it was a lot of fun. Their menu offers mostly Italian food with a few twists and is a great place for food and drink, it’s location near Grey Street means it’s a great place to go before heading out for a few drinks. They’re also offering two courses for £15.

Blackfriars

Blackfriars offer a menu based on traditional British food but done in a modern way. It’s somewhere I haven’t been but have always wanted to go; I’ve heard lots of very good things about them! They’re offering a 3 course lunch for £15 or a two course dinner for £15, definitely good value!

Chaophraya

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Newcastle. They pair amazing Thai food with beautiful décor, along with fab views of Grey’s Monument. I’ve been a few times and would always recommend it. With 2 courses for £10 and 3 courses for £15, this is definitely a place to visit.

Dabbawal

Dabbawal is another place I really want to try. I’ve heard great things about their Indian street food menu. They’re offering 2 courses for £15 over the week.

Dobson and Parnell

This is the place I’ve decided to book for restaurant week. Located near the Quayside, their menu looks really interesting and I’m so excited for our meal. I’ll definitely be reporting back on what I think! At £15 for a 3 course lunch or 2 course dinner, I really can’t wait.

Fat Hippo Underground

I once had one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten at Fat Hippo Underground. And I’d like to say I’m a burger connoisseur. They’re offering two courses for £10 and would definitely recommend it if you want somewhere not fancy, but totally delicious.

George’s Great British Kitchen

Their menu is quirky but delicious, and their restaurant in Eldon Square is super cute. If you want somewhere a bit fun that offers good food, I would recommend George’s. They’re offering 2 courses for £10 or 3 for £15.

Miller and Carter

Probably everyone’s favourite date night restaurant, I really love going to Miller and Carter for a steak and few drinks. Their Restaurant Week menu features some of their other dishes, giving you a chance to try their delish food a great price.

The Hudson

This was our restaurant of choice during the last Restaurant Week and we really enjoyed our food, cocktails, and super friendly service. They’re offering 2 courses for £10 or 3 for £15 and I would really recommend you try this place!

Check out the Restaurant Week website to see all the restaurants that are taking part. There’s so much choice but hopefully my few recommendations have helped.
