My Five Minute Face: Everyday Makeup

I wouldn’t call myself a lazy person but I really love sleep. I’ll do anything for an extra five minutes in bed in the morning and, while I always like to look good, an hour long makeup routine doesn’t really work for me.

Firstly: base. I prep with plenty of moisturiser and begin my makeup with a pore-smoothing, mattifying primer so my makeup lasts all day. Currently, I’m using the Pur Correcting primer but other favourites are Benefit Porefessional and Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot. I then go in with my foundation and at the moment I’m using Fenty Beauty, you can read my review on that here, as it’s great for lasting through a whole day of work. The brush I apply this with is a really important part of my routine; I use the Real Techniques buffing brush as I find it the best for using a small amount of foundation to cover a large area, and really quickly too. I find this so much quicker and easier than any other brush or beauty blender and it applies my foundation fairly thinly as I like to look natural for work. I’ve been using Benefit Boi-ing Brightening concealer under my eyes and I think it works really well, I then set with powder.

I keep my skin really simple for work so I only use bronzer and miss blush or highlight. I always use Benefit Hoola and I think a quick sweep of it is really effective for making me look a little bit more alive.

Next, I’ll move on to brows. If my brows are having a good day I can use brow gel, I like Maybelline Brow Drama, to give them some shape, volume, and keep them set and it looks pretty good. Otherwise, I’ll use a little Benefit Precisely, My Brow pencil to fill in where needed and then set with gel. Then, all I’ll use on my eyes is mascara. I’ve been really enjoying using the LancĂ´me Hypnose Porter-a-Volume as I think it’s perfect for length and drama. Even if I’m only going to work I always do a few layers as I love my lashes to be as big as possible.

Finally, I’ll finish with a thick, glossy lip balm and I’m good to go. It usually takes me around five or ten minutes to do this routine and if I’ve got a bit of extra time I like to add a bit of highlighter or eye liner. This is a basic look that I’m happy with, but I’ve got a lot of respect for anyone who can do a face with eyeshadow or lipstick early on a morning!
