Getting Ready for my Birthday Night Out

tLast week I celebrated my 21st birthday by having drinks with a few friends in Durham. I thought I’d share how I get ready for a night out including my prep, makeup, and outfit. IMG_5731 (2)After a bath with a Lush bath bomb, fake tan, and moisturiser, I prepped my face before makeup. I love this Body Shop Squeaky Clean Tea Tree face scrub at the moment to make face feel really smooth and clean. I followed with The Ordinary Zinc and Niacinamide serum to help keep my face oil-free and then Caudalie Radiance serum for a glow. Then I used Origins GinZing eye-cream (I’d just come off nightshift and needed this) and finished with First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. This is my favourite day-time moisturiser at the moment as it’s moisturising but sits well under makeup.

For makeup, I wanted a really glamourous look, so I blended the matte, neutral shades of the Urban Decay Ultimate Basics palette to create a smoky eye and added glitter in Specter from their Moondust palette to make it glam. I followed with Too Faced Better than Sex mascara and Urban Decay Perversion eyeliner; my favourites for night out makeup. Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Lips liquid lipstick in Platinum Blonde finished the look.IMG_5732

My dress was from ASOS and while I wouldn’t normally go that dressy for a night out I thought I would since it was my birthday. I wore it with plain black heels and this pair of earrings, also from ASOS, that I absolutely love.

I also decided to wear my hair up in a ponytail as I wanted to show off the detail and the high collar on my dress. This was supposed to be a sleek ponytail with a bit of a quiff at the front but, as usual, my hair didn’t want to cooperate. IMG_5557I want to say thank you to everyone who helped celebrate my birthday with me, I had such an amazing time and felt so lucky. You can see what I got up to during the rest of my birthday celebrations here.
